Re: Fly tying vise.

You are wrong, that is on the 1 to IT'S THE SH*T scale, not the 1-10 scale!

Re: Fly tying vise.

best economy vise on the market is the crown rotating vise......well built with jaws that grip small flies very well....can buy this vise for $35 with clamp base from amazon with free shipping.....

Re: Fly tying vise.

Hello everybody. As you can see this is my first post, but as they say, you gotta start somewhere. Anyways thought I would add my 2 cents here. I have been fortunate enough to have tied on pretty much every available vise made in the past 20 years or so and can say that I have been completely satisfied with only one vise....a dyna-king. Nothing and I mean absolutley nothing will hold a hook like a dyna. I bought my first renzetti traveller when they retailed at $110.00. Went through three sets of jaws in less than 2 years. Bought a dk aristocrat after that and have never been happy with anything else since. I commercially tied salt-water for 3 years and after 8, finally wore out my first set of jaws (which i still use to tie 2/0 and 3/0 tarpon flies, but they are grooved). The midge jaws they make I think one could perform surgery with. I have tied 100s of dozens of trout flies with these jaws and swear i could repackage them and sell as new jaws. Have tried hmh, regal, nor-vise (incredible for tube flies).... The dyna-king is the only vise i'll ever own again. The c-clamp they make is also the only one that I never ever have to re-adjust. The only one that I have found in that category.... Hope I didn't confuse you and good luck with whatever you end up with.
